The gke Dental Helix Test is the premium dental helix device on the market. Used to monitor the steam penetration of lumened instruments (handpieces) in a steam steriliser.
 
Unlike traditional helix devices which have a finite life (usually 500 cycles), the gke helix device will last for up to 10000 cycles, in effect a lifetime of use.
 
Helix devices test whether or not the steam penetration of an autoclave is effective on lumened instruments such as handpieces. A helix test strip is inserted into the device, if sterilisation has been successful the strip will turn from yellow to black.
 
Failure of the test can indicate several issues, such as insufficient temperature, lack of air removal or lack of steam penetration.
